After a long day of hiking, exploring, or simply enjoying the outdoors, there’s nothing better than sinking into a comfortable chair by the fire.
And for our furry friends? They deserve the same level of comfort!
That is why KUMA Outdoor Gear, as a brand, caught our attention early on – their dedication to not only making high-quality gear for us but also for pets.
When we were working on our Holiday Gift Guide and Holiday Giveaway in our Facebook group (Camping & Hiking with Dogs Ontario), KUMA was one of our generous sponsors.
They sent our pack two products to test out and include in the gift guide – the Lazy Bear Heated Chair and the Lazy Bear Dog Bed.
But we loved them so much we wanted to spotlight these products!
In this review, we’ll break down the features that make this chair and dog bed stand out and explain why they’ve become our go-to for comfort in the front country.
We’re sure by the time you’re finished reading, you’ll understand why we’re raving about them!

The products included in this post were gifted to us by the brand, but the opinions shared about these products are all our own. See our full disclosure policy for more details.

When set up, it measures 34” wide, 34” tall (including the chair back), and 27” deep.
It is rated for up to 350 lbs.
For those worried about gear transportation, the chair is definitely designed for front-country camping, not schlepping into the backcountry.
Weighing in at 15 lbs, it’s reasonable for standard car camping setups.

This is powered by a 10,000mAh USB-C power bank included with the chair, which is held in a Velcro pouch under the seat.
The heat can be turned on using the manual button on the inside of the chair arm or by using the KUMA phone app, which connects with the chair via Bluetooth.

Features
Size: The dog bed seat area measures 25” W x 26” D x 11” H, offering plenty of space even for larger dogs to get comfortable.

Pros and Cons of the KUMA Outdoor Gear Lazy Bear Line of Products
With so many camp chairs and dog beds on the market, choosing the right option for you and your pet(s) will depend on several factors, including your personal preferences.
There is no single “one-size-fits-all” solution that’s best for every family.
Consider your camping style, the space you have available for gear, your priorities when selecting a comfortable camp chair, and your dog’s idea of the perfect dog bed.
Here are some pros and cons of the Lazy Bear line of products:
Pros
- Heating option is amazing on cooler trips
- Very comfortable with a large seat that accommodates people of all sizes and allows you to sit in many different ways
- Limited Lifetime Warranty from KUMA Outdoor Gear
Cons
- Buckles securing the removable cushion on the dog bed are small and break relatively easily
- Cup holder is great for a water bottle or can, but it doesn’t work for all drink options
- Heat is restricted to the seat, not in the back of the chair
- Takes up significant space during transport

Our First-Hand Review
While we’re not opposed to pulling up a seat on a log, rock, or even just on the ground around the campfire, there is nothing wrong with wanting a comfortable seat!
Our adventures are split between backcountry rustic and a more cozy front-country experience.
We’re not new to the KUMA brand. We have been camping with our Bear Den Gazebo for several years now and recently invested in a Bear Den 5 Tent for 2025.
When our Lazy Bear gear was delivered, we were instantly excited about having a cozy space when adventuring during the cooler weather – early spring, late fall, and winter.
In fact, our first time trying the chair and dog bed out was in the middle of December, out in the snow, around a winter campfire.
Willow instantly claimed the dog bed as her own.
After the first time using it outside, the bed is now set up in the cabin for her to enjoy anytime we’re just hanging out as a family.
Don’t feel bad for Lucifer. It took no time at all for him to hop up and realize that the Lazy Bear Heated Chair was the perfect size for both of us to snuggle in together (and heated, too).
The chair is well-padded and super comfortable for long puppy snuggle sessions by the fire.
I love having the pocket on the side for my phone, a roll of puppy poo bags, or whatever else I may need close at hand.
My only major complaint about the dog bed is the small clips that hold the removable cushion in place.
While the cushion is still in perfect shape, the pressure put on the clips when Willow launches herself into the bed often causes them to pop open, with one breaking just days after the chair arrived.
But as long as you’re committed to picking the cushion up and putting it back into the bed occasionally, it’s not a deal breaker.
The bulkier size and weight compared to our regular chairs will likely restrict us from bringing them along on some of the shorter trips when we’re trying to limit gear.
But these are now part of our must-have gear for a longer car camping trip!

FAQs
How Long Does a KUMA Heated Chair Last?
The chair offers 3 heat settings in manual mode. The hotter the chair, the faster the power bank will run out and need to be recharged.
You can tell which setting you are on by the colour of the button.
- High setting (red):2 hours
- Medium setting (white): 4 hours
- Low setting (blue): 6 hours
If you’re using the app to adjust your temperature, you can use these estimates and adjust your expectations accordingly.
For example, if you set it to level 3 out of 10, you can expect approximately 5 hours of heat.
How Long Does It Take for the Battery Pack to Charge?
It will take approximately 3-4 hours for your power back to charge, depending on how far you have drained it and the approach to charging.
However, if you are using a solar panel for charging purposes, be aware that poor sun exposure can lengthen this time considerably.
Can KUMA Chairs Get Wet?
Yes, if you’re sitting outside in light rain, you and your chair/dog bed are safe – even if you have a heated chair.
However, as with any gear, you want to limit exposure to the elements when possible.
Bring your chair out of the rain or sun when it’s not being used to extend its lifespan. If the chair got wet before you brought it in, give it time to dry before packing it in its bag.
How Do You Wash Your KUMA Chair or Dog Bed?
Both the chair and dog bed can be cleaned with a wet cloth and a mild detergent.
First, brush off any dirt and debris that may have accumulated during use. If you’re cleaning the dog bed, remove the cushion.
Wipe the fabric and the frame with the cloth, using the detergent to scrub away any tough stains.
You can use a soft bristle brush to help work out tough grime if necessary.
After they have been cleaned, leave your gear out to dry before packing them away in their storage bags.

Final Thoughts: KUMA Outdoor Gear Lazy Bear Products

They are incredibly comfortable, making it even easier to create a cozy campsite for your next outdoor getaway.
Plus, what dog doesn’t deserve a special puppy throne?
