Parks Canada Announces Earlier Reservation Dates for the 2024 Season
We have some big news if you have been planning to camp at one of Canada’s 37 national parks or 10 national park reserves this year.
Last year, Parks Canada made significant changes to their online reservation system to improve the booking process. This also led to a change in the dates that their locations were available for booking.
This year, those booking dates are changing once again.
Those familiar with making a Parks Canada reservation will tell you that the competition is fierce.
When you first log into the system on the day reservations open, you will be directed to a waiting page. This helps control the traffic to the booking system, reducing the risk of crashing.
But this also highlights the level of competition as everyone tries to score a prime spot in that waiting line.
The best chance to land the campsite, cabin, yurt, or cabin of your dreams is to make sure that you are logged in and ready to go first thing the day reservations open.
Last year, the Ontario locations were available for booking starting on March 21st.
However, this year, that booking date is moving up even earlier. Booking for locations in Ontario will open on Monday, February 5th, at 8:00 AM ET.
This includes:
- Bruce Peninsula National Park
- Fathom Five National Marine Park
- Georgian Bay Islands National Park
- Point Pelee National Park
- Pukaskwa National Park
- Rideau Canal National Historic Site
- Thousand Islands National Park
- Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site
Before booking, double-check that your location of interest allows pets.
While most Parks Canada locations will allow our furry friends on most hiking trails and tent camping sites, they are restricted from many roofed accommodations.
If you plan to travel outside the province, the booking dates for other Parks Canada locations have also been moved up.
Booking dates for each province include the following:
- Alberta: Locations split between Jan 23, Jan 24, Jan 26, Jan 29, Jan 30, and Feb 1
- British Columbia: Locations split between Jan 19, Jan 23, Jan 25, and Jan 29
- Manitoba: All locations Feb 2
- New Brunswick: All locations Feb 8
- Newfoundland and Labrador: Locations split between Feb 9 and Feb 13
- Northwest Territories: All locations Jan 24
- Nova Scotia: Locations split between Feb 9 and Feb 13
- Prince Edward Island: All locations Feb 9
