In Loving Memory of Daviana
If you have been following us on social media, you already know that on January 20th, we said goodbye to our sweet senior dog, Daviana.
This was a heartbreaking decision for our family.
On February 3rd, 2009, while living in the area, I (Britt) adopted Daviana from the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society in Windsor, Ontario.
She was a 1-year-old, copper-coloured firecracker.
Never in my life have I met a dog with a more stubborn streak. Combine that with her incredible intelligence; you can see how she kept me on my toes for the last 15 years.
Dav was my best friend and my heart dog. We had an incredibly close bond that friends and family often commented on.
Together, we navigated all of life’s many changes, challenges, and celebrations – including moving to multiple houses (and cities), health struggles, meeting and eventually marrying John, the addition of other pets into our “pack,” and the many career changes that led to my current business.
When everything was changing, Dav was my constant.
In recent weeks, we had noticed that she was slowing down a lot more than usual, her arthritis becoming more painful.
With her pain management no longer working and the loss of mobility drastically impacting her quality of life, we knew it was time to help her take on her final adventure – to cross the rainbow bridge.
We were blessed to connect with an incredible veterinarian who came to us at the cabin.
This allowed us to all say our goodbyes in the most peaceful and comforting way possible. Not only could we hold her in this familiar setting as she passed, knowing nothing but love, but the boys were also able to say goodbye to their sister and packmate.
We would like to thank everyone who has shown us love and compassion in the difficult days and weeks that have followed.
While Daviana is no longer physically with us on these adventures, we know she will forever be by our side.
Run free, sweet girl…
You both are amazing your love and dedication to your babies is beautiful.
It shows not even knowing you in person the wonderful kind hearted ppl you are .
Thank you for all you do and your wonderful posts group and tic tocks .
Cheers from Jennifer and Petey .
Thank you so much!
Absolutely beautiful tribute to a beautiful pup! You were so blessed to have each other. I’m glad you have so many precious memories, photos, and videos of your BFF. It certainly does suck that a furry friend can’t live as long as a tortoise (or at least us).
Henry and I send you lots of love and hugs as you adjust to a new life.
She was an incredible best friend and travel companion. I told Lucifer he has big paws to fill… but we took our first trip of 2024 this weekend (just a short winter tenting weekend). It was a little emotional going out without her for the first time in 15 years, but he did a great job of making me smile and offering plenty of puppy cuddles.
